The authors deal with problems on locally quasi-uniform (LQU) spaces which have a nested base. In their study, among other results, they give conditions so that a bitopological space \((X,\tau_1,\tau_2)\) admits a local quasi-uniformity \({\mathcal U}\) which generates \(\tau_1\) and its dual \({\mathcal U}^{-1}\) generates \(\tau_2\). Also, the authors give necessary and sufficient conditions for a space to be quasi-metrizable, related to concrete covering properties. At the end of this interesting paper, the authors offer a Stone type characterization of pairwise paracompactness for some categories of LQU spaces with nested bases.
