By using the geometry of subelliptic model [\textit{O. Calin, D. C. Chang} and \textit{P. C. Greiner}, J. Geom. Anal. 14, 1--18 (2004; Zbl 1056.53020)], the Euler-Lagrange equations are introduced and solved for geodesics starting from and outside the origin. The geodesic completeness and global connectivity for a step \(2k+2\) sub-Riemannian manifold, is proved. By means of complex Hamiltonian mechanics, some sub-Riemannian distances are calculated by using methods from [\textit{D. F. Lawden}, Elliptic functions and applications, Appl. Math. Sci. 80 (1989; Zbl 0689.33001)].
