This note shortly describes an approach to the approximate solution of boundary integral equations which is based on the Fourier transform on finite groups. The discretization of the integral equation is regarded as a convolution equation in the Banach algebra of matrix-valued functions on the symmetry group of the surface, and the inverse convolution operator is approximated by an iteration procedure. A more detailed version can be found in Viniti, No. 1220-B92.
