The authors suggest a method which reduces the solution of the system of vectorial equations governing the viscous fluid motion to the solution of a system of scalar equations. This method is used to solve the capillary wave problem and to determine the critical conditions for instability in a conducting incompressible viscous spherical drop charged with electricity.
