Let \(\mathbb{B}\) be a unit ball of a complex Hilbert space \(H\). The authors study the space \(\text{hol}(\mathbb{B})\) of the semi-complete holomorphic vector fields on \(\mathbb{B}\). More precisely, they prove that, for \(f\in \text{hol}(\mathbb{B})\), there exists \(\tau\in\overline{\mathbb{B}}\) such that \[ {\text{Re}\langle f(z), z\rangle\over 1-\| z\|^2}\geq {\text{Re}\langle f(z),\tau\rangle\over 1-\langle z,\tau\rangle} \] for all \(z\in\mathbb{B}\). Conversely, if \(f\) is holomorphic and bounded on a neighborhood strictly containing \(\overline{\mathbb{B}}\), the previous condition is sufficient for \(f\) to be in \(\text{hol}(\mathbb{B})\). Moreover, if \(H\) is finite-dimensional and \(\Gamma\) is an affine submanifold of \(H\) intersecting \(\mathbb{B}\), the authors give the description of all the \(f\in \text{hol}(\mathbb{B}\)) vanishing on \(\Gamma\). These results generalize those obtained for \(H=\mathbb{C}\) by \textit{E. Berkson} and \textit{H. Porta} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 227, 357--370 (1977; Zbl 0346.47038)].
