The book deals with linkages between ecosystems and economic growth, known as ecological economics. It is assumed that efficiency, equality and sustainability represent three conflictual criteria, and the main goal of the book is to suggest a multicriterial evaluation strategy leading to an acceptable compromise between their demands. It is applicable to specific situations of parallel existence of deterministic, fuzzy and stochastic information regarding qualitative and quantitative measurements. A new multicriteria evaluation and decision-making method based on some aspects of the partial incompatibility axiom is developed, and a compromise solution based on conflict analysis procedures is proposed. The book is divided into three main parts on cost-benefit analysis, multicriteria evaluation in fuzzy environment, and an application of the general theory to a real environmental management problem.
