The paper deals with a special singularly perturbed boundary value problem. The behavior of the solutions of this problem presents interesting features because of narrow boundary and interior layer regions. Determining of the limiting behavior and the location of the internal layers presents both analytical and computational challenges. Sufficient conditions for existence of solutions in case when the problem has ``turning points'' and the classical Rankine-Hugoniot condition fails to determine the location of the shock layer are given.
