Given two sequence spaces \(A\) and \(B\) one can construct a new sequence space \((A, B)\) of multipliers by: \[ (A, B)= \{(\lambda_ n): (\lambda_ n a_ n)\in B\text{ for all }(a_ n)\in A\}. \] A sequence space \(A\) is said to be solid if \((b_ n)\in A\) whenever \(| b_ n|\leq a_ n\) and \((a_ n)\in A\); this is equivalent to saying that \((A, A)\) contains \(\ell_ \infty\). Various classical function spaces may be regarded as sequence spaces via the Fourier transform. After some preliminaries the paper is mainly concerned with the weighted Bergman spaces \(B^ \beta_ p\) and the Bloch space \(B\) (regarded as the limiting space of \(B^ 0_ p\) as \(p\to \infty\)). Characterizations of \((B^ \alpha_ q, B^ \beta_ p)\) and \((B, B^ \beta_ p)\) are given (in Theorems 1 and 3 respectively). The proofs do not require a priori information on whether these spaces are solid and thereby avoid the powerful machinery used by \textit{P. Wojtaszczyk} [Odense University Pre-print II, 1-15 (1988)].
