A well-known class of curves in the plane of complex numbers are the \(\alpha\)-isoptics \(C_\alpha\), the locus of all points \(z_\alpha\) from which an oval \(C\) may be seen under the fixed angle \(\pi-\alpha\) \((0<\alpha<\pi)\); it occurs in connection with CAM (computer aided modeling) mechanisms. -- The author generalizes the notion of an \(\alpha\)-isoptic curve to the notion of a ``secantoptic'' curve \(C_{\alpha,\beta,\gamma}\) by rotating the \(z_\alpha\) containing tangents of \(C\) about their points of contact with \(C\) with fixed angles \(-\beta\) and \(\gamma\) (\(0\leq\beta<\pi\), \(0\leq\gamma<\pi- \beta\)). A convexity condition for the (always regular) secantoptic curves is derived together with other properties for this new class of curves.
