A generalized equation, viz.\ inclusion, of the type \(0\in f(x) + G(x)\) is studied, where \(f:X\to Y\) is a function between Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) and \(G : X\rightrightarrows Y\) is a multivalued map. The authors prove the existence of a sequence \(\{x_k\}\) which satisfies (with \(\nabla\) the Fréchet derivative) \[ 0\in f(x_k)+\nabla f(x_k)(x_{k+1}-x_k)+\frac12\nabla^2 f(x_k)(x_{k+1}-x_k)^2+G(x_{k+1}) \] and converges to a solution \(x^*\) of the above inclusion. They show that \(\{x_k\}\) is locally superquadratically convergent to \(x^*\) if \(\nabla^2f\) satisfies a Hölder-type condition and the multivalued map defined by \[ [f(x^*)+\nabla f(x^*)(\cdot-x^*)+\tfrac12\nabla^2f(x^*)(\cdot-x^*)^2+G(\cdot)]^{-1} \] is \(M\)-pseudo-Lipschitz around \((0,x^*)\). The proofs, based on a fixed point theorem of \textit{A. L. Dontchev} and \textit{W. W. Hager} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 121, No. 2, 481--489 (1994; Zbl 0804.49021)], are technically difficult.
