The main subject of this paper is the study of the subgroup \(BI(M)\) of all so-called bounded symplectomorphisms of a symplectic manifold \(M\). The terminus ``bounded'' is defined with the help of the Hofer metric on the group \(\text{Ham}_c(M)\) of compactly supported Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. \(BI(M)\) is a natural candidate for the subgroup of the group \(\text{Symp}_c(M)\) of compactly supported symplectic diffeomorphisms of \(M\), which satisfies the non-disjunction properties of Lagrangian submanifolds. The authors show that an element of \(BI(M)\) can never disjoin from itself a Lagrangian submanifold admitting a metric of nonpositive curvature and whose fundamental group injects in the fundamental group of \(M\). The authors conjecture that the intersection of \(BI(M)\) with the identity component of \(\text{Symp}_c(M)\) coincides with \(\text{Ham}_c(M)\). They prove this for products of manifolds of genus \(>0\). In the case of a surface they prove that \(BI(M)=\text{Ham}_c(M)\).
