With \(\eta\), \(k\), \(\beta_I\) and \(\beta_{II}\) denoting the magnetic viscosity, the thermal conductivity, the ion-slip and the Hall numbers, respectively, it is shown that the conditions \(\eta/k>1\) and \(\beta_I/\beta_{II}\) guarantee the validity of the principle of exchange of stabilities of the critical Rayleigh curves for the linear anisotropic magnetohydrodynamic Bénard problem in the stress-free case.
