In this interesting paper, the author studies the asymptotic behavior of \(L_p\) extremal polynomials. Let \(\sigma\) be a finite positive measure whose absolutely continuous component is supported on a rectifiable curve in the complex plane, satisfying there a suitable version of a Szegő condition. In addition, \(\sigma\) is assume to have a discrete component with countably many mass points satisfying a suitable Blaschke condition. Given \(1\leq p<\infty\), the corresponding \(L_p\) extremal polynomials \[ T_{n,p}(z)= z^n+\cdots, \] are determinned by the condition that they minimize \[ \int|P(z)|^p\, d\sigma(z), \] amongst all monic polynomials \(P\) of degree \(n\). The author studies the asymptotic behavior of \(T_{n,p}\) as \(n\to\infty\), on and off the curve.
