The authors study the stabilization of a nonuniform Timoshenko beam system with rotor inertia controllers at the beam tip. By virtue of semigroup theory of linear operators the authors prove the well-posedness of the corresponding closed-loop system. It is shown that the closed-loop system is exponentially stable if none of the feedback coefficients are zero. Moreover, the authors derive some conditions for the closed-loop system to be asymptotically stable in other cases.
