Es sei \(f (z)\) eine ganze transzendente Funktion. Unter \(\varGamma _n\) (\(n =1, 2,\ldots \)) werde der Kreisring \(\dfrac {3}{4}\,2^{n-1}<|z|<\dfrac {3}{4}\,2^n\) der \(z\)-Ebene verstanden. Ferner sei \[ f_n(z) = f(2^nz)\;\;(n=0,1,2,\ldots ); \] \(f_n(z)\) nimmt also in \(\varGamma _1\) die Werte an, die \(f (z)\) in \(\varGamma _{n+1}\) annimmt. Nach \textit{P. Montel} (Leçons sur les familles normales de fonctions analytiques et leurs applications (1927; F. d. M. 53, 303 (JFM 53.0303.*)), p. 80-81) soll dann gelten: (\(\alpha \)) \ Es kann nicht zwei Zahlen \(a\) und \(b\) geben, für die die Anzahlen der Nullstellen von \(f (z) - a\) und \(f(z) - b\) in \(\varGamma _n\) für \(n\to\infty \) endliche obere Grenzen haben. (\(\beta \)) \ Die Familie \(\{ f_n (z)\} \) kann in \(\varGamma _1\) nicht quasi-normal sein. Diese Behauptungen, die \textit{P. Montel} ohne Ausführung des Beweises ausgesprochen hat, werden in der vorliegenden Note durch ein Beispiel widerlegt. An einem weiteren Beispiel wird gezeigt, daß es Funktionen \(f(z)\) gibt, für die (\(\alpha \)), nicht aber (\(\beta \)) gilt, während umgekehrt (\(\beta \)) stets (\(\alpha \)) nach sich zieht.
