The authors discuss the solvability of a general linear integro- differential equation of parabolic type in the Hölder class \(H^{2+\alpha,1+\alpha /2}(\bar Q_ T)\). Existence, uniqueness, and stability of the solution are studied. They treat this problem as a parabolic equation with the integral term as a perturbation employing the classical Picard iteration. The results are obtained without using semigroup theory. These results are applied to some mixed type boundary value problems arising in the study of sound propagation in viscous media.
