The authors consider an SIR model assuming a fixed infection period for all infected individuals and constant total population. By offering vaccination to a constant proportion \(m\) of the new born individuals every \(T\) time units, the model becomes a system of delayed impulsive differential equations. By analysing this model, the authors obtain a condition (\(R_1<1\)) under which a disease free periodic solution is globally attractive, implying that large vaccination rate \(m\) and shorter vaccination period would eradicate the disease. They also show that under another condition (\(R_2>1\)) under which the disease remains uniformly persistent. The fact that \(R_2<R_1\) leaves a gap: \(R_2<1<R_1\), for which the disease dynamics is unknown.
