The authors study matrices (in particular their spectral norm) arising in the (exact) computation of integrals \[ \int x^m\varphi(x- k)dx,\quad \int x^m\varphi(x) \varphi(x- k)dx\qquad (0\leq m\leq p-1), \] where \(\varphi\) denotes the Daubechies' scaling function which integer translates reproduce polynomials of degree \(\leq p-1\) on finite intervals.
