Es sei das elektrische Feld eines frei geladenen zylindrischen Leiters bekannt. Dann ist auch das Feld bekannt, welches durch Einführung des geladenen Leiters in ein gegebenes Parallelfeld entsteht. Das hatte früher \textit{H. W. Richmond} in einem Spezialfall bewiesen (1924; F. d. M. 50, 676 (JFM 50.0676.*)), wo der Querschnitt des Zylinders zwei rechtwinklige Symmetrieachsen hat.
