A generalized Pohozaev identity and its applications (Q750739): Difference between revisions

The authors establish a generalized Pokhozaev identity and its variant for radial solutions of the following quasilinear elliptic equation \[ (*)\quad div(A(| Du|)Du)+f(| x|,u)=0, \] in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), where Du is the gradient of u, f and A are given functions. Their results are applied to the generalized Laplace equation, i.e. the case \(A(p)=p^{m-2}\) in (*) above, where m is a constant, and some slight modifications of their results are obtained for a special nonlinearity. The results of the paper are important for better investigation of existence and nonexistence of non-trivial solutions of nonlinear eigenvalue problems for semilinear elliptic equations.
