The authors formalize the idea of a record-based, computationally oriented database management system. Field attributes may either have the character of an input (e.g., the name of a student, some classification, a test score), or of an evaluation attribute (e.g., an average, a final grade). The authors define computation schemes over such lists of attributes and consider problems related to uniformity, consistency and interval queries. The paper is quite technical and extends earlier work of the first author with various coworkers.
