\textit{J. Howie} and \textit{R. M. Thomas} [J. Algebra 154, No. 2, 289-309 (1993; Zbl 0791.20032)] have obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for the groups \((2,3,p;q)\) to be finite with the exception of two groups, namely, \((2,3,13;4)\) and \((2,3,7;11)\). By developing the asphericity and cohomological arguments of Howie and Thomas [loc. cit.], and combining them with the curvature method developed earlier by the author [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 63, 563-589 (1991; Zbl 0683.20022)], he obtains necessary and sufficient conditions for \((m, n, p;q)\) to be finite.
