Given a nonassociative (i.e., not necessarily associative) algebra \(A\) with multiplication \(xy\), many new algebras can be defined on \(A\) by twisting the original product. For instance, one can take two linear endomorphisms \(f,g\) of \(A\) and consider the new product \(x\circ y=f(x)g(y)\). Also, for \(A\) unital and \(a\in A\), the \(a\)-mutation is the algebra \(A^{(a)}\) defined on \(A\) with multiplication \(x*y=a(xy)+(1-a)(yx)\). In this paper, new families of division algebras are constructed in terms of generalized mutations of division composition algebras in different ways. In particular, nice examples of real eight-dimensional division algebras with large derivation algebras are obtained. Some mutation algebras of associative algebras with higher degree multiplicative norms are studied too, as well as automorphisms and derivations of mutation algebras.
