This self-contained, comprehensive monograph presents a careful modern introduction to the basic methods and applications of quantum field theory. The approach in this book is at the crossroads between building a mathematical fundament of QFT and providing the calculation techniques used by physicists. Rebenko emphasizes recent methods of constructive as well as Euclidean field theory. The book has seven parts. Part I provides an overview of the symmetry groups used in particle physics. Part II presents the classical theory of free fields. Part III deals with the classical theory of interacting fields. Part IV is devoted to the mathematics of second quantization. Part V, the main part, gives a full account of the theory of interacting fields and renormalization. Part VI deals with the axiomatic approach of Wightman and others and with the Euclidean version of field theory. Part VII introduces to gauge theory and the Standard Model of particle physics. Everything is based on rigorous mathematics. This book should be useful as a reference for students and researchers alike with interests in QFT, particle physics, mathematics and related areas. I hope this excellent reference will be welcomed. | |||
