Die \textit{Sommerfeld}sche (Ann. Physik 28 (1909), 665-736; F. d. M. 40, 944 (JFM 40.0944.*)) Formel für die Strahlung eines vertikalen Dipoles auf der Erdoberfläche in horizontaler Richtung wurde von \textit{van der Pol} (Z. Hochfrequenztechnik 37 (1931), 152) in ein \textit{eigentliches} Integral verwandelt. Ausgehend von diesem gibt Verf. verschiedene Entwicklungen der \textit{Hertz}schen Funktion des Dipols an: Potenzreihenentwicklung nach Potenzen der Entfernung vom Dipol, dasselbe nach Abtrennung gewisser Exponentialfaktoren, asymptotische Entwicklung nach fallenden Potenzen der Entfernung vom Dipol. Als Koeffizienten dieser Entwicklungen treten \textit{Legendre}sche Polynome, verallgemeinerte Kugelfunktionen und hypergeometrische Funktionen auf.
