    The author gives an affirmative answer to a question-conjecture of \textit{R. E. Borcherds} [Duke Math. J. 97, 219-233 (1999; Zbl 0967.11022)], that the spaces of vector valued modular forms associated to the Weil representation have bases of modular forms whose Fourier expansions have only integer coefficients. The main result of the paper of \textit{B. Gross, W. Kohnen} and \textit{D. Zagier} [Math. Ann. 278, 497-562 (1987; Zbl 0641.14013)] says that the Heegner divisor of a modular curve corresponds to the coefficients of a certain modular form. Borcherd's main theorem generalizes this result in certain higher-dimensional cases. Without the result of the paper under review Borcherd was able to show only that these Heegner divisors correspond to a modular form up to an action of \(\text{Gal} (\overline{\mathbb{Q}}/\mathbb{Q})\). With this result one has that the space of modular forms in Borcherd's work are stable under this action.
