Let \(S\) denote a regular semigroup and \(V(a)\) the set of inverses of an element \(a\) of \(S\). A regular semigroup is called \(V\)-regular if \(V(ab)\subseteq V(b)V(a)\) always holds (the reverse inclusion defining orthodoxy). The author introduces the class of so called \(Q\)-regular semigroups which are shown to properly contain that of \(V\)-regular semigroups. Moreover, this new class is shown to be a kind of dual to the class of so called \(P\)-regular semigroups introduced by Yamada. Indeed the author shows that one condition in the original axiomatization of the class of \(P\)-regular semigroups is redundant.
