Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\geq 3\) with smooth boundary. To establishing sharp Sobolev inequalities on \((M,g)\), the authors apply the method developed by them for sharp trace inequalities in [\textit{Y. Li} and \textit{M. Zhu}, Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 50, No. 5, 449-487 (1997; Zbl 0869.58054)]. The main result here is the necessary and sufficient condition for a manifold to enable a certain sharp inequality. Several corollaries are obtained, some of which were previously known only for \(n\geq 5\).
