The weak Lindelöf degree (with respect to closed sets) of a topological space \(X\), \(wL(X)\), (resp. \(wL_c(X)\)), is the least cardinal number \(\kappa\) such that for every open family \(\mathcal{U}\) covering \(X\), (resp. a closed set \(C\) of \(X\)), there exists a subfamily \(\mathcal{U}'\) of \(\mathcal{U}\) of cardinality at most \(\kappa\) such that \(X=cl(\bigcup \mathcal{U}')\), (resp. \(C\subseteq cl(\bigcup\mathcal{U}')\}\)). The weak Lindelöf degree with respect to closed sets is also known in the literature as the quasi-Lindelöf number. This notion was introduced by \textit{A. V. Arkhangel'skiĭ} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 34, No. 4(208), 177--178 (1979; Zbl 0422.54004)]. The following general result (Theorem 2.5) is proved: ``Let \(X\) be a space, \(\kappa\) a cardinal number and \(\mathcal{G}\) a compact cover of \(X\) where each compact set of the cover has character at most \(\kappa\), then (a) there exists a subfamily \(\mathcal{G}'\subseteq \mathcal{G}\) such that \(X=cl_{\theta}(\bigcup \mathcal{G}')\) and the cardinality of \(\mathcal{G}'\) is bounded by \(2^{wL_c(X) t(X)\cdot k}\), and (b) if additionally \(X\) has a dense set of isolated points, then there exists a subfamily \(\mathcal{G}'\subseteq \mathcal{G}\) such that \(X=cl(\bigcup\mathcal{G}')\) and the cardinality of \(\mathcal{G}'\) is bounded by \(2^{wL(X)t(X)\cdot k}\).'' Recall that \(cl_{\theta}(A)=\{x\in X:\overline{U}\cap A\neq\emptyset\text{ for all open sets }U \text{ with }x\in U\}\). Several corollaries follow as a consequence of Theorem 2.5, in particular, in Theorem 2.5(a) it is obtained that the cardinality of a space \(X\) is bounded by \(2^{wL_c(X)\chi(X)}\), if \(X\) is quasiregular or has Urysohn-like properties, cf. \textit{O. T. Alas} [Colloq. Math. 65, No 2, 165--168 (1993; Zbl 0842.54002)]. In Theorem 2.5(b) it is obtained as a corollary that the cardinality of a space \(X\) is bounded by the cardinal number \(2^{wL(X) \chi(X)}\) if \(X\) is a space with a dense set of isolated points, \textit{A. Dow} and \textit{J. Porter} [Topology, Proc. Conf., Vol. 7, No.1 , 27--50 (1982; Zbl 0569.54004)]. The second part of the paper provides particular results for power homogeneous spaces. A space is homogeneous if for any pair of points there is an homeomorphism sending one point to the other. A space is power homogeneous if some power of it is homogeneous. In this case, the cardinal function \(pct(X)\) for a space \(X\) is used, which is defined as the least cardinal number \(\kappa\) such that \(X\) can be covered by a family \(\mathcal{K}\) of compact sets such that \(\chi(K,X)\leq \kappa\) for each compact set \(K\) of the family \(\mathcal{K}\). Thus, it is proved that if \(X\) is a power homogeneous Hausdorff space then (a) if it is either quasiregular or Urysohn, then the cardinality of \(X\) is bounded by \(2^{wL_c(X)t(X)pct(X)}\) and (b) if it has a dense set of isolated points then the cardinality of \(X\) is bounded by \(2^{wL(X) t(X) pct(X)}\). Editorial remark: An error in this paper has been found and corrected in [\textit{D. Anderson} et al., Topology Appl. 284, Article ID 107406, 19 p. (2020; Zbl 1455.54007)].
