    A sequence \((x_k)\) of complex numbers is said to be statistically convergent if there exists a complex number \(L\) such that for any \(\epsilon >0\) we have \[ \lim_{n \to \infty} \frac{1}{n} |\{k \leq n: |x_k-L|>\epsilon\}|=0, \] where by \(|A|\) we denote the number of elements in the set \(A\) of positive integers. In symbols, we write \(st-\lim _{k \to \infty} x_k=L\). Let \(p=(p_k)\) be a nonnegative sequence with \(p_0>0\) and \(P_k=\sum _{j=0}^{k} p_j \to \infty\) as \(k \to \infty.\) The weighted means of a sequence \((x_k)\) are defined by \[ \sigma _{k,p} =\frac{1}{P_k} \sum _{j=0}^{k} p_j x_j. \] A sequence \((x_k)\) is said to be \((\overline{N},p)\) summable to \(L\) if \[ \lim _{k \to \infty}\sigma _{k,p} =L. \] A sequence \((x_k)\) is said to be statistically \((\overline{N},p)\) summable to \(L\) if \[ st-\lim _{k \to \infty}\sigma _{k,p} =L. \] Using the concept of the weighted generator sequence defined by \textit{İ. Çanak} and \textit{Ü. Totur} [Comput. Math. Appl. 62, No. 6, 2609--2615 (2011; Zbl 1231.40010)], the author presents necessary and sufficient conditions under which \(st-\lim _{k \to \infty} x_k=L\) follows from \(st-\lim _{k \to \infty} \sigma _{k,p} =L\).
