The classical Lotka-Volterra predator-prey system is considered as a Hamiltonian one. This Hamiltonian system is perturbed by using special functions. The authors investigate the number of limit cycles in the perturbed system and determine that this number is unbounded. The main tools used are Abelian integrals and degenerate Hopf bifurcation.
