Under a very strong decay condition on the function \(p\) the author constructs a unitary scattering function for the self-adjoint operator \(L\) associated with the perturbed Stark operator in \(L^2(0, \infty)\) with Dirichlet boundary condition at \(0\). This is done by showing that the problem of finding a suitable transformation between the solutions of the perturbed and the unperturbed equation can be reduced to solving an integral equation. The author then retraces her steps to show that a given unitary function (satisfying appropriate necessary conditions) is the scattering function of an operator \(L\) with perturbation \(p\) in \(L^1(0,\infty)\). She concludes by saying that this discrepancy between strong decay and integrability of \(p\) can be removed for potentials with compact support. For this she adduces three references the relevance of which the reviewer fails to see, viz., the Handbook of Mathematical Functions, Volume IV of Smirnov's Course of Higher Mathematics and the paper by \textit{H. Koyunbakan} and \textit{E. S. Panakhov} [Math. Comput. Modelling 47, No. 1--2, 178--185 (2008; Zbl 1153.34005)].
