A given permutation on the ordered set \(C=1,2,\dots,n\) of components, which are labeled in nondecreasing order of their reliabilities, determines the order in which the components in a structure are inspected for possible repair. Two partial orderings, one of which is finer than the other, on the set of permutations of \(C\) are introduced. The performance of inspection and repair policies for \((n-r+1)\)-out-of-n systems are compared stochastically with respect to these partial orderings.
