Let \((X,d)\) be a metric space, \(P(X)\) (resp. \(P_{cl}(X))\) denote the collection of all nonempty (resp. nonempty closed) subsets of \(X,\) and for \(A,B \in P(X),\) \(D_d(A,B) = \inf \{d(a,b): a \in A, b \in B \}.\) For \(Y \in P(X)\) and a multimap \(T: Y \to P_{cl}(X)\) the fixed point problem is well-posed in the generalized set with respect to \(D_d\) if: \((i)\) the fixed point set \(F_T\) is nonempty; \((ii)\) for each sequence \(\{x_n\} \subset Y\) the condition \(D_d(x_n,Tx_n) \to 0\) implies the existence of a subsequence \(\{x_{n_i}\}\) such that \(x_{n_i} \to x^* \in F_T.\) A similar definition is given with respect to the Hausdorff metric \(H_d\) on \(P(X).\) This notion is studied and some conditions under which the fixed point problem for a multimap is well-posed in the generalized sense are presented.
