Stasheff introduced \(A_n\)-spaces and \(A_n\)-structures as a notion of higher associativity of \(H\)-spaces, and it is known that the Eckmann-Hilton duals give rise to two kinds of notions of higher coassociativity. One notion is ``co-\(A_n\)-space'' and the other is the notion of a (weak and ordinary) homotopy coalgebra of higher order for a comonad \(\Sigma^k\Omega^k\). In this paper the authors study the latter notion and they show that, for a map of (weak and ordinary) \(k\)-fold homotopy coalgebras, and under certain dimension and connectivity restrictions, the homotopy coalgebra structure is inherited by the homotopy cofibre of the given map.
