As a generalization of affine Grassmann spaces, the author studies, for fixed \(k\) and \(m\) with \(m<k\), the geometry of \(k\)-flats intersecting a fixed subspace \(H\) of a projective space \({\mathcal P}\) in an \(m\)-flat. There is a natural parallelism definable in such spine spaces, enabling the introduction, in analogy with the affine case, of the notions of horizon, projective closure, and strong subspace. The author completely characterizes the class of strong subspaces of a spine space, and mentions a few facts regarding their automorphisms.
