Delamination between plies is one of the most common defects encountered in composite laminates. Hence, the stability behaviour, both static and dynamic, of composite delaminated plates under compressive loading has received considerable attention in the literature recently. In the paper under review the authors extend higher-order plate theories which more accurately model transverse shear effects for the treatment of dynamic buckling of delaminated composite plates. Moreover, rotatory inertia effects are also taken into account in their models. A finite element analysis is performed in which the delamination is modeled by penalty approach. A number of numerical results are presented and are shown to be in good agreement with both experiments and computations performed by a 3D NASTRAN package. This is an important paper which gives a good impression how delamination effects buckling loads, eigenfrequences and regions of parametric resonances.
