Nonlinear equations of transverse motion for a generally laminated, truncated, conical shell are derived by use of the dynamic virtual work principle. The effects of transverse shear deformation, rotary inertia and geometric initial imperfection are taken into account. The solution is expressed in the form of generalized double Fourier series with time-dependent coefficients. The Galerkin procedure furnishes a system of equations for time functions which are solved by the method of harmonic balance. Present numerical results are compared with available data for special cases.
