The authors present ``a resonable self-contained proof of the strong form'' of Alperin's weight conjecture for \(p\)-solvable groups. The proof of Alperin's weight conjecture was obtained independently by \textit{T. Okayama} [in an unpublished preprint], \textit{P. Gres} [Contemp. Math. 131, Pt. 1, 137-158 (1992; Zbl 0772.20003)] and \textit{E. C. Dade} [also unpublished but announced in the proceedings of the Santa Cruz conference]. The authors are using a character-theoretic approach. It gives the possibility to generalize some results for \(\pi\)-separable groups, where \(\pi\) is a set primes. The theory of \(\pi\)-blocks of \(\pi\)-separable groups was developed mostly by the first author.
