    The authors consider the following discontinuous Sturm-Liouville equation \[ \tau u := -u^{\prime \prime} + qu = \lambda u\text{ for }x \in [-1, 0) \cup (0, 1], \] with (eigenparameter dependent) boundary conditions \[ \alpha_1 u (-1) + \alpha_2 u' (-1) = 0,\quad \lambda (\beta_1' u(1) - \beta'_2 u'(1)) + \beta_1 u(1) - \beta_2 u'(1) = 0 \] and two supplementary transmission conditions at the point of discontinuity \[ u(-0) - \delta u(+0) = 0, u'(-0) - \delta u'(+0)= 0, \] where \(\lambda\) is a complex spectral parameter, the other coefficients are all real with \[ | \alpha_1| + | \alpha_2 | \not = 0, \delta \not = 0, | \beta_1'| + | \beta_2'| \not = 0, | \beta_1| + | \beta_2 | \not = 0 \] and \(\beta_1' \beta_2 - \beta_1 \beta_2' > 0\). Through introducing an associated selfadjoint operator \(A\) on a special Hilbert space, the problem considered is transfered to an eigenvalue problem of \(A\). Then, some classic results of Sturmian theory, for example, the asymptotic behavior of the eigenpairs, are extended to the case considered.
