Let \(G=.0\) be the automorphism group of the Leech lattice \(\Lambda\). To each element \(g\in G\), the invariance sublattice \(\Lambda_g\) of \(g\) is defined by \(\Lambda_g=\{\lambda \in \Lambda\mid g(\lambda)=\lambda \}\). Let \(N_G(<g>)\) be the normalizer subgroup of the group \(<g>\) (the cyclic subgroup generated by \(g\)) in \(G\). \(N_G(<g>)\) acts on \(\Lambda_g\) and so induces a subgroup of \(\Aut(\Lambda_g)\). In this paper the authors raise the question: is \(\Aut(\Lambda_g)\) induced from \(N_G(<g>)\) for all \(g\in G\)? Their answer is that it is true for all but 9 classes of \(G\), whereas there are 164 conjugacy classes of elements. The result is obtained by case-by-case examinations. Note that a part of the results was obtained before by \textit{T. Kondo} and \textit{T. Tasaka} [Nagoya Math. J. 101, 151--179 (1986; Zbl 0579.10010) and J. Fac. Sci., Univ. Tokyo, Sect. IA 34, 545--572 (1987; Zbl 0646.10015)]. Kondo-Tasaka's papers are restricted to the case \(g\in 2^{12}M_{24}\subset G\).
