For a star body \(K\) in \({\mathbb R}^n\) and a real number \(p\geq 1\), the \(L_p\) centroid body of \(K\), denoted by \(\Gamma_p(K)\), is the convex body with support function \(h_{\Gamma_p K}\) defined by \[ h^p_{\Gamma_p K}(u) = \frac{1}{c_{n,p}V(K)} \int_K| u\cdot x| ^p\,dx, \] where \(c_{n,p}\) is an explicit constant and \(V\) denotes the volume. For star bodies \(K,L\), the authors define the normalized \(L_p\) radial sum of \(K\) and \(L\), denoted by \(K\bar +_p L\), as the star body with radial function given by \[ \xi^{-1} \rho(K\bar +_p L,\cdot)^{n+p} = V(K)^{-1} \rho(K,\cdot)^{n+p} +V(L)^{-1} \rho(L,\cdot)^{n+p}, \] where \[ \xi^{1/(n+p)} = \frac{1}{n} \int_{S^{n-1}} \left[V(K)^{-1} \rho(K,\cdot)^{n+p} +V(L)^{-1} \rho(L,\cdot)^{n+p}\right]^{n/(n+p)}dS(u). \] The main results of this paper are Brunn--Minkowski type theorems for \(V(\Gamma_p(K\bar +_p L))\) and \(V(\Gamma_p^*(K\bar +_p L))\), where \(\Gamma_p^*\) is the polar body of \(\Gamma_p\). Further inequalities concern the star body \(\Gamma_{-p}K\) introduced by\textit{E. Lutwak, D. Yang} and \textit{G. Zhang} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 90, No. 2, 497--520 (2005; Zbl 1074.52005)].
