The author answers the two questions: Let \(P\) be a parabolic subgroup of a semisimple algebraic group \(G\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from \(2\), and let \(L\) be a very ample line bundle on the projective homogeneous space \(G/P\). For which \(L\) does the image of \(G/P\) in the projective space \(\mathbb P((H^0(G/P,L))^\ast)\) contain lines? When such a line exists, what is the class in \(H_2(G/P,\mathbb Z)\) and, for a fixed class, describe the subvariety of the Grassmannian of lines in the projective space \(\mathbb P((H^0(G/P,L))^\ast)\) that lie in \(G/P\) and represents this class. In the case of a maximal torus similar results have been obtained by \textit{A. M. Cohen} and \textit{B. N. Cooperstein} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 126, 2095--2102 (1998; Zbl 0901.51019)], and by \textit{J . M. Landsberg} and \textit{L.~Manivel} [Comment. Math. Helv. 78, 65--100 (2003; Zbl 1048.14032)].
