A Riemannian manifold M is said to have harmonic curvature, iff its Ricci tensor is a Codazzi tensor. The author proves that in the m-dimensional (m\(\geq 2)\) complex hyperbolic space \({\mathbb{C}}H^ m\) there are no real hypersurfaces with harmonic curvature on which \(J\xi\) is a principal direction. Here, J denotes the complex structure of \({\mathbb{C}}H^ m\) and \(\xi\) a unit normal field of M. This result is the analogue to theorems of Kimura and Kwon-Nakagawa for the complex projective space [see e.g. \textit{E. G. Kwon}, Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 33, 253-260 (1986; Zbl 0588.30037)].
