A design group is a triple \((N,{\mathcal B},+)\), where \((N,{\mathcal B})\) is a design and \((N,+)\) is a (not necessarily Abelian) group such that the mapping \(\rho_ a: N\to N\) such that \(x\to x+a\) is an automorphism of the design for all \(a\) in \(N\). Special design groups can be constructed using finite Ferrero pairs \((N,\Phi)\), which arise when \(\Phi\) is a subgroup of \(\Aut N\) such that \(-1+ \varphi: N\to N^ 2\) is a bijection for every \(\varphi\in \Phi-\{1\}\). Then \({\mathcal B}_ \Phi= \{\Phi a+ b: a,b\in N, a\neq 0\}\). The authors investigate isomorphisms and automorphisms of the designs above when the group \(N\) is Abelian, in particular a \(p\)-group.
