A two-dimensional nonhomogeneous reaction-diffusion equation with a polynomial reaction component under homogenous Dirichlet boundary conditions is considered. The approximate solution of the spatial discretization to the above problem is written as a sum on suitable grids of two terms called wavelet-like incremental unknowns (WIU) being mutually \(L^2\)-orthogonal. The transfer matrix from the WIU to the nodal unknowns is orthogonal. Using the WIU and various time discretization the authors obtain two fully discrete nonlinear Galerkin schemes. Next, a variational formulation of the spatial discretization leads to simplified approximation schemes. The stability analysis of fully discrete schemes is investigated and the improvement of the Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy (CFL) condition is gained. -- Two examples are tested numerically.
