This paper gives a detailed algebraic proof of a duality theorem attributed to G. Zuckerman [4.9 in \textit{B. D. Boe} and \textit{D. H. Collingwood}, J. Algebra 94, 511-545 (1985; Zbl 0606.17007)]. Let \(K\) be a field of characteristic zero, \({\mathfrak g}\) a split semisimple Lie algebra over \(K\), \({\mathfrak p}\) a parabolic subalgebra of \({\mathfrak g}\), and \(\rho_{\mathfrak n}\) the semi sum of roots whose root spaces are contained in the nilradical of \({\mathfrak p}\). Denote by \({\mathbb C}_{-2\rho_{\mathfrak n}}\) the corresponding one dimensional \({\mathfrak p}\)-module and for any finite dimensional simple \({\mathfrak p}\)-module \(E\), write \(E^*\) for its dual. Finally, set \(M(E)=U({\mathfrak g})\otimes_{U({\mathfrak p})}E\). The author then proves \[ \Hom_{\mathfrak g}(M(E),M(F)) \simeq \Hom_{\mathfrak g}(M(F^*\otimes{\mathbb C}_{-2\rho_{\mathfrak n}}),M(E^*\otimes{\mathbb C}_{-2\rho_{\mathfrak n}})). \]
