The main purpose of the book under review is to classify del Pezzo surfaces with log terminal singularities of index \(\leq 2\). That is to give the description of the intersection graph of all exceptional curves (those with negative self intersection) on the so called ``right'' resolution of singularities, together with the subgraph of the curves which are contracted to singular points. The final results are similar to the classical results on smooth del Pezzo surfaces and use the usual finite root systems. But the main machinery is via the study of \(K3\) surfaces (as double cover along \(-2K\)) and reflection groups in hyperbolic spaces. The authors aim to make the book self contained and be served as an introduction to del Pezzo and \(K3\) surfaces. The book under review is the expanded version of an earlier paper by the same authors. A preprint of the same subject has appeared in [\textit{N. Nakayama}, Classification of log del Pezzo surfaces of index two, RIMS-1565 (RIMS, Kyoto Preprint), (2006)], where the approach is more geometrical.
