    Let \(Q_{n}[f]=\sum_{\nu =1}^{n}a_{\nu }f\left( x_{\nu }\right) \) be a quadrature formula for a function \(f:[0,1]\rightarrow \mathbb R\), with the nodes \(-1\leq x_{1}<x_{2}<\dots <x_{n}\leq 1\), and the coefficients \(a_{\nu }\), \(\nu =1,2,\dots,n\). Denote \[ R_{n}[f]=\int_{-1}^{1}f\left( x\right) dx-Q_{n}[f] \] the errors of this quadrature formula, suppose that all coefficients are nonnegative and \(R[P_{0}]=\{0\}\) (\(P_{0}\) is the set of constants). If \[ f\in C_{\omega }:=\Big\{f| f:[-1,1]\rightarrow {\mathbf R},\sup_{| x-y| \leq \delta }| f\left( x\right) -f\left( y\right) | \leq \omega \left( \delta \right) \Big\}, \] where \(\omega \) is a given modulus of continuity, \textit{P. D. Proinov} [J. Approximation Theory 52, No. 3, 284-292 (1988; Zbl 0645.10041)] has obtained the following bound for error: \[ | R_{n}[f]| \leq \int_{-1}^{1}\omega \left( | K_{1}\left( x\right) | \right) dx=c\left( Q_{n};\omega \right) , \] where \(K_{1}\left( x\right) \) is the Peano's kernel of first order. The author gives some conditions such that \[ \sup \{| R_{n}[f]| :f\in C_{\omega }\}=c\left( Q_{n};\omega \right) . \] These conditions are applicable to the Gaussian quadrature formula.
