The authors obtain a principle of linearized stability for functional differential equations \(\dot x(t)+\alpha x(t)+ Bx(t)= F(x_t)\) with \(B\) an accretive operator and \(F\) Lipschitz continuous. The approach is based on semigroup theory as established by the authors in [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 341, 695-719 (1994; Zbl 0794.34067)] and applied to concrete examples as the Goodwin oscillator and population equations with spatial diffusion.
